Harireh ancient city, situated on Kish Island, is set to secure its place on the ICESCO, Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization’s list, before this year is out.
On Sunday, a local official in charge of tourism brought to light that Harireh has already made it onto UNESCO’s tentative list, and efforts are underway to secure its possible position on the prestigious UNESCO World Heritage list of Iran.
Shedding light on the timeline, Mahdi Adiban further elaborated that the ancient city, Harireh, will be registered on the ICESCO list till late December.
“ICESCO has 55 member states,” he highlighted. “And being recognized by ICESCO, pave the way of Harireh’s inclusion on the UNESCO World Heritage List.”
In his concluding remarks, Adiban pinpointed that a UNESCO recognition will draw more inbound tourists to the Island.
