Introducing

Karaj is a city in Iran, the capital of the Alburz province. It is situated 20 km west of Tehran, in the foothills of the Alborz Mountains.

Karaj’s history dates back to the earliest empires in Iran. The Zoroastrian fire temple of Takht-e-Rostam, dating from the Parthian period is a testament to this.

Some of the historic monuments of Karaj include the Soleimanieh Palace (currently home to an agronomy faculty), the mausoleum of Shahzadeh Soleiman, Imamzadeh Rahman, and Zeid Palang Abad-e-Eshtehard.

During the reign of the Pahlavi, a palace designed by the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation, the Morvarid Palace, was built in Mehrshahr (one of the city’s districts).
