Chamrosh is a mysterious and mythical bird of Iran land which believes to be living in the “Alborz Mountain” and has been mentioned a lot in the Avesta Holy Book. This bird is the guarding bird of Iran and it is said that it will destroy enemies of Persia in time of their attach or powers. As it has come in Bandehesh, it is a huge bird which is also the helper of one of the old gods of Iran, called “BorzIzad”, and under his command, it will destroy all the foreign enemies who want to make any hurt to Iran.
It is a bird, just like the others, which flies between land and sky and does a great and important duty.
Description of this mysterious bird
Chamrosh has been described as a special bird with a body like a wolf or a dog and having a head like an eagle. It is also said that this special bird lives under a specific tree, which is so important and holy for Zoroastrians and is called the Hom tree. This is also the same place that the other mythical bird of Persia, The Simorgh lives under it at night. As the Simorgh landed, all the seeds fall on the ground. These seeds are gathered by the Chamrosh and he disturbed them on the other parts of the earth’s surface.
Chamrosh Duty
The most important role of the Chamrosh in Iranian myth has been defending the Persian land which also includes carrying the heroes of Iran like Rostam for transferring them to the battlefield. However, it is also said in some old written texts that sometimes Chamrosh may have gone to the fight with devils and enemies itself and has defeated them.
Based in the Avesta, most of the non-Persian people, every three years once, tried to attack Iran for killing and stealing and destroying the land, and in those times, the guardian angel or God, the BarzIzad, will rise the Chamrosh on top of the peak of Alborz, trying to select and remove those enemies.
There is an old written text about the Chamrosh which has been mentioned in old Persian books which says:
“Ahura Mazda, the creator of the world and the only god, creates a special tree on the coasts of the Voroshka sea, and also two special undying birds. Every year, a thousand spring new tree branches are grown and all kinds of seeds are visible on them. Then a bird which is called the Amrosh comes and sits on them. Because of the shakings, the seed falls on the ground. Then the other birds come. It is called the Chamrosh. It gathers all the seeds and pours them into the sea. Then all the seeds become a cloud full of rain. Then when the rain starts all the seeds get back to the earth and the grow again.”
Chamrosh is a sample of the primary kind of birds or the ancestor of current birds actually.
Very interesting.
