One of the most almost intact and stable caravanserais that remained from the Safavid and Qajar era, is Asfak Caravanserai. It is truly a beautiful example of two fates caravanserais, located in Asfak village, near to Silk Road, just 30 km before Boshruyeh and 90 km away from Tabas city in South Khorasan province. It is a quiet village, with Muslim people, who were Zoroastrian, just one hundred years ago, and still keeping the footsteps of their ancestor religion in their customs yet.

This caravanserai was very important, due to its location for traders (In Persian: Bazargan) who were passing that area, and most of the time they were robbed by thieves who were hiding in one of the old castles there, called “Ghale Dokhtar” castle.

Also, because a lot of trading caravans were passing that way, Asfak Caravanserai has been built almost big, with a lot of rooms to stay in, including royal rooms for more rich people and plus a toilet and bathroom. It is indeed a beautiful and cozy Caravansary. One of the many caravansaries made by Shah Abbas King in the Safavid era, who is called the king of caravansaries in contemporary history, with an age of 450 years old.

Here in Asfak Caravanserai, you can stay and rest in VIP and regular rooms, for up to three persons in each room, enjoying Organic and traditional foods and visiting a nice old village with traditional clothes and customs. But what makes this more interesting is the chance of going to deserts and touching the celestial sphere, in the darkest sky you can find ever. it is an experience of a lifetime and unforgettable.

You can order different kinds of traditional foods in this caravansary, and if you book VIP rooms, which are called “Hojre” in old person term, you will have a bathroom and shower in your room as well, so you will feel comfortable. This is one of the quietest and cleanest caravansaries you can find in the whole of Iran.
